Eye drops will be prescribed, that the patient should start using approximately two hours after completion of the surgery.
There are two types of drops:
OFLOX (a yellow bottle) – instilled 3 times a day (morning, afternoon, evening) and usually for only one week after surgery.
STERODEX (a green bottle) – instill 6 times a day (every 3 hours). In the case there is a shortage of theese drops, you will be given a substitute. After one week, the number of times you instill the drops will gradually be reduced: in the second week, 4 times a day, in the third week, 3 times a day, in the fourth week, twice a day, in the fifth week, once a day – then you stop.
There is no need to instill drops at night, and always instill only one drop. If you need to instill two types of drops at the same time, wait approximately 5 minutes between each drop.
In certain cases, it might be possible to recomend a change in the frequency of drops administration , or, alternatively, additional drops or even pills will be prescribed.
The prescription for the eye drops will be provided usualy at the examination before the surgery.
There will be three follow up visits: one day, one week and approximately one month after surgery.
An eye examination will be performed at each follow up visit and you will be provided with further recommendations.
